Hi everybody...
Sorry I don't speak dutch...Well, I'm fan of Novanex amp...
I got automatic 10, PB40, RG80, RG50, U100 & P100...Some of them are in perfect working condition others need to be repair...So I'm looking for schematic, datasheets etc etc
Someone could help me ???
Many Thanks
Wlad
Hi Wlad,
As far as I know, Novanex was a Dutch barn manufacturer of guitar and PA amplifiers and cabinets, and has gone long since.....
I doubt whether you can find much info on them.
Usually, it's just straightforward electronics, without any special or custom parts, so an experienced tech shouldn't have any problem in repairing them.
Where are you located?
Thanks KT88, I live in France and I know Novanex was a part of Philips and has gone long since...I know any experienced tech can repair my amp too...But I just want to do it by myself..(not a money point of view, but more an electronic interest). I've some electronic bases and I guess I can succeed in with patience and method and I'm looking for shematics to make it easier...Yesterday I began to work on my RG50 Novanex because there was no sound when I plug my guitar in. I recorver this amp as is. I tested HP (ok), transformer (secondaries voltage ok..), preamp with an audioprobe (no pathway cut...). If someone could give me a debugging protocol solidstate amp (step by step), it would be awesome...It's my first time about guitar amp fixing problem.
Cheers
Hi Wlad,
For this to even remotely succeed, I'd need to see at least some pictures of the printed circuit boards, if possible in detail, as well as a total overview.
Also, mentioning the supply voltages, types of output devices and ICs and such, may be helpful.
I'll have to know what kind of amp we're dealing with, and photos are a great help in finding the right procedure to guide you through the repairing process (that is, if we succeed at all
).
I'd much prefer to have this trouble shooting done via the forum and not by private e-mail, since this may be an opportunity for other knowledgeable people to chime in as well, and for the beginners and googlers to learn something about amp repair, and Novanex in particular.
You can upload photos on your own webspace, or on one of the web-based archives like http://imageshack.us , and post the links or thumbnails here.
Meanwhile, can you check whether the problem lies in the power section or the preamp section of your amp?
Hey...That's really too kind !!! I need few days to post the data you need. Right now I'm drawing the layout...
Thanks for your help
'til later
Well, here I am...You can find here the layout of my Novanex RG50 amp I want to debbug and a photo of the layout :
http://natwlad.free.fr/images/RG50%20PCB.jpg
http://natwlad.free.fr/images/PCB.ppt
I tried to make something clear, not really easy with powerpoint...I've tested the power supply which seems ok...I got +/- 33V for Vcc and Vee respectively...I left the output transistors 2N3055 and tested them with my DMM in diode mod...they look ok but I didn't check the hFE...
Any idea is welcome
cheers
Hi Wlad and hi everyone and happy new year!
I live in France and I've got a few days ago an old novanex U100, and I've some questions about it: first I want to know if the second "line" connection is an input line or an output line. Then is there a "distorsion circuit" (fogive my english)-I guess it might be the circuit called "foot-pedal" but I'm not sure...- and if I'm right what kind of foot-pedal can I use(is there one designed for the U100)?
Thanks to answer my questions.
Hi Nasty,
I must have missed your post before.
I'm sorry, I don't have a clue as to what is causing your problems.
From what I can see, the power stage is pretty straight forward, I'd say pull all the semis and measure them out of circuit, replace all electrolytics and check the resistors for drifted values.
@ Member: I'm sorry, I'm not familiar with this model, maybe Nasty can help you out?
Bonne chance!
@ KT88 : I tested the preamp stage with an audio probe and it seems ok. I didn't find any "cut"...but i'm not in electronic amp design, i just build pedal effect (distortion / fuzz / analog delay...) and some transistors in power stage have been changed. At least, they have been left and soldered again. Are you sure my layout have sense with all these NPN and PNP transistors ??? And in your opinion what is Q16. If I have to change it...which one choose ???
Happy New year 2007 and all the best for all people here...
Wlad
