I know this is an old post, but its excelent, thank you. Y have a Vici VC8145, and I tried every software available, conectog seria to a native serial port but no luck, evwn the screen start doing funny stuff after a bit, my guess is since is controlled by the same ic as the rs232.
Instead of all the parts you uses, can I just use a converter ttl to rs232 max3232 or a usb fr232rl usb to ttl?
The question is the ic FSUP01-003 have a vcc 5v or 3.3v so I can still for this usb or serial buffer board? Or what voltage is on the optocouplers or the connectors itself.
For the power, i think its easy, I can get one of those small dc to dc power supply and take power from the 9v tramsformer inside and turn it into 5v or 3.3v.
Or can i use one of those hilink 220v to 5v or 3.3v mini power supplu modules?
How about the rx and tx to connect to the usb or mx3232? Anybody can help.me fond the rx tx on the existing connector, that has 5 pins.
Thank you.

Hi mic717394,
This is a Dutch language forum.
All info you need, the reason why RS-232 connecting is difficult, and possible solutions, is already discussed in this topic.
Many different solutions are possible. Choose what suits you best. The basic solution is the same.
But if you want to do it your own way, you have to do your own home work
